To meet language demands of college- and career-ready state standards, WIDA is raising the bar for language proficiency. Students will need to demonstrate higher language skills in 2016-2017 to achieve the same proficiency level scores (1.0-6.0). The changes in ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 scores in 2017 are expected to impact students. In 2017, some students may see lower scores than expected due to a change in the scores, and fewer students may exit English language learner program support. See www.wida.us/proficiency to learn more.

All ELL students will take the ACCESS test from February 13 to February 17 (dates flexible). They will be tested for English language skill with a focus on listening, reading, speaking and writing. The ACCESS test is an important test. It provides useful information about your student's progress in learning English. The most important thing that you can do for your student during testing is make sure that he/ she comes to school on the days they have tests. In addition to attendance, your student will do his/her best on the tests if they:
- take the tests seriously and give his or her best effort, - get to bed early the night before to be well-rested on the day of the test, - have a good breakfast on the morning of the test, - come to school on time. Thank you for supporting your student during this test. Please contact me if you have any questions.
